Student Dress Code

he Ummah Institute prioritises modesty, discipline, and unity as part of its core values. The dress code for students reflects these principles while ensuring comfort, practicality, and alignment with Islamic teachings. Our guidelines are designed to create a respectful and inclusive environment where students can focus on their spiritual, academic, and personal growth.


General Guidelines

  1. Modesty: All students are expected to dress modestly in accordance with Islamic values. Clothing should be loose-fitting and non-transparent.
  2. Uniformity: Students are required to adhere to the designated uniform policy to promote equality and a sense of belonging.
  3. Neatness: Clothing should always be clean, ironed, and presentable.
  4. Respect for Prayer Times: Students must ensure their attire is suitable for Salah (prayer) at all times during the school day.

Dress Code for Boys

  1. Uniform:
    • Plain white or light-coloured kurta and shalwar (or trousers).
    • Optional school vest or sweater in winter with the institute logo.
    • A white cap (topi) for Salah and Quranic classes.
  2. Hair and Grooming:
    • Hair should be kept neat and trimmed.
    • Boys must maintain proper hygiene, including trimmed nails and clean appearance.

Dress Code for Girls

  1. Uniform:
    • Plain, modest abaya (in black, navy, or other approved colours) with a matching headscarf (hijab) that fully covers the hair and neck.
    • Optional school vest or sweater in winter with the institute logo.
  2. Additional Guidelines:
    • Girls above a certain age are encouraged to wear a face veil (niqab) if they choose, especially in external environments.
    • Clothing should not be adorned with unnecessary embellishments or patterns to maintain simplicity.
  3. Hair and Grooming:
    • Hair should be tied back and covered with a hijab during school hours.
    • Proper personal hygiene, including trimmed nails and cleanliness, is mandatory.
